The consummate hostess, Tweet would instruct her butler to welcome foreign guest—and there were many over the years—with hoisting the flag of the visitor’s home country so the visitor could see it on approaching the castle.
As much as she adored entertaining friends, old and new, Tweet adored the land. In 1996 Tweet’s vision to turn the land, castle, and its collections into a permanent legacy for the people of Colorado became a reality through the establishment of the Cherokee Ranch and Castle Foundation. She lived at the castle until her death in 1999.
